Quality and printing effect

Iwa Ribbon, produced with strong and durable Japan nylon 6.6 and excellent Japan Printing Ink, guarantees the printing of 500,000 Western words or symbols per meter of ribbon (with width 12.7mm). Compared with ribbon produced in China, the longlasting Iwa Ribbon has a printing life which is one time longer. For detailed comparison of printing life, please refer to Printing Life Table.

Provide effective protection of print head for over three years
Japan printing ink enjoys the advantage of low corrosiveness, which well fits the original specification. Print head will not be damaged by long term utilization.

All ribbon is welded by imported ultrasound welder, thus produces smooth but implicit seam; the tension of narrow ribbon is required to be 8 V 10 kg; Iwa makes use of double side welding in order to increase the tension force of the seam of broad.

Our materials and equipments

The production of Iwa Printer Ribbon requires the highest-quality Nylon base cloth 6.6. with density of 328 filament / in2 and tension over 20 kg / in2, which avoids laceration and cracking. Nylon base cloth 6.6 is abrasion resistant and also prominently features its tenacity which well-fits for printing.

The Japan High-quality Printing Ink chosen for Iwas production is best known for its fluidity. It helps ensuring a super long printing life. Other prominent features are low acidity and corrosiveness, waterproof (No blurring or fading of ink even after soaking) and sunlight resistant (No transformation of colour after exposed to sunlight for a long period of time).

All machinery for production are imported from Japan, Europe and the United States

How To Choose Ribbon
Here are some misunderstandings about printer ribbon:

1)Wrong perception about the relationship between the lifetime of the ribbon and its ink concentration.
Because many customers think that they will get a darker printout by using higher concentrated ink, a brand new ribbon is wrongly perceived to have longer lifetime and, on the other hand, save more money. However, there is no connection between ink concentration and the darkness of the printout. In fact, the quality of the ribbon is the main point. By using good circulated ribbon, less ink will be consumed; therefore, the lifetime of the ribbon will be longer.

Indeed, using higher concentration of ink makes over-permeation on and through papers and blocks the printhead. In the long run, you will lose more money because it damages the printhead.

Although the made-in-Japan ribbon is relatively dry and normally concentrated, it has longer lifetime over other ribbons--the effect of high quality ribbon. Therefore, there is no connection between the ink concentration and the lifetime of the ribbon.

2)Wrong perception that printer ink is dry powder
There is no dry-powder ink in the market. During the procedure of the ink manufacturing, all of the pigments dissolve into the solvent; eventually, it becomes a solution. Therefore, it is absolutely neither dry-powder nor dry in any ink in the market. However, the make-in-Japan ribbon seems to be very dry and smooth on the surface of the ribbon. This is where the rumor of dry-powder ribbon came from.

3)Wrong standard for the test of density of the nylon ribbon
People always draw a conclusion about the density of the nylon ribbon by observing how much sunlight can go through the ribbon under the sun. It is also a misunderstanding. However, it is true that high-density ribbon is more pervious to light than normal-density ribbon. The same types of ribbon with different ink have different perviousness to light. Although ribbon with multi-color ink has lower perviousness to light, the same ribbon with 325 knits and above is high density. The arrangement of the longitude and latitude yarn also influences the perviousness to light. Therefore, it is not reasonable to draw a conclusion according to the perviousness to light.

The following are the basic specifications for printer ribbon from foreign manufactures:

1)The lifetime of the ribbon: For example, the standard for the lifetime of the ribbon with 12.7 mm or 13 mm width is 250,000 to 30,000 words per meter. Ink should not permeate through the back of the first paper being printed. For the quality of the printout, the last paper being printed should be clearly photocopied.

2)No damage should be made by ribbon. After continuously printing 1,000 words, take the printhead out for investigation. Use converging lens to compare the differences of the printhead before and after the printing. No ink blocking the printhead and no damage on the print-pin are the minimal requirements for the ribbon. After printing 20,000,000 to 30,000,000 words, no damage on the print-pin is preferable.

3)Ink contained in the ribbon should be even and proper:The printed words should not be permeable on paper.Ink should not permeate and form spots of ink through the back of the paper. For instant, on a deposit book, pressing the words being printed with your figure, you should not see any ink stains on your figure.

4)High density nylon ribbon should be used on printer ribbon: the longitude and latitude yarn should have 325 knits and above per 1 square inch. Good ribbon can undergo the impact during printing.

5)Ink should be weak acidic:Ink should be high flowing ink with low caustic; waterproof, unfading or permeable after soaking with water; sun-proof, unfading or color changing when long-time exposing under the sun.
